Solid Swan

Kennison Forest Products is a distributor of 2200F MSR 1.8E Solid Sawn Scaffold Plank.

Planking is critical for safe conditions on a scaffold and properly supports workers and their equipment. Unlike the typical DI65 (dense industrial 65) scaffold planks, Kennison Forest Products, Inc. provides an upgraded type of machine stress rated (MSR) plank that meets and exceeds industry and regulatory demands.

Our MSR Wood Advantage

Though our solid sawn wood planks must meet certain visual grading requirements, mechanical stress-rating equipment provides a more accurate measure of their modulus of elasticity (E). In addition to the E rating of planks, MSR also provides a rating for flatwise bending design (F), ensuring a lower variability in bending from one plank to the next.

Scaffold Planks That Exceed OSHA Regulations

To maintain safety standards for individuals working on wood plank scaffoldings, OSHA requires a minimum grade level. Those standards include:

  • Deflection limits and span lengths for both wet and dry conditions according to OSHA Standard 1926.451 charts
  • Grading official must be accredited by the grading agency to which the mill adheres, i.e. Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB)
  • Grading agency must be accredited by the American Lumber Standards Committee
  • Requires facing and stamping with the label “Scaffold Plank”
  • Stamped with the official grade of the specific wood specie (DI-65 for Southern Yellow Pine)
  • Must include the stamped logo of the grading agency
  • Labeling of moisture content (KD19 = kiln dried 19%)
  • Must be stamped with “Meets OSHA Standard 1910-28”

In addition to these standards, planks may be rodded on the ends to prevent splitting and cracking, clipped to minimize splitting when dropped on their ends, and may include MSR labeling information. Kennison Forest Products exceeds all these standards with our DI65 and MSR planking.

MSR Pine Planks

Southern pine is among the most reliable species of lumber in North America. More than 300,000 data points from tested samples provide evidence of its design values. It has remained one of the most relied upon lumber products since colonial Americans first began milling it. Several features of southern pine make it highly reliable lumber, including:

  • Cost-effective
  • Pressure treatable
  • Highest density
  • Comparable strength and stiffness to other softwoods
  • Appealing golden color
  • Dimensional stability
  • Widely available

In addition to these qualities inherent in southern pine, Kennison’s MSR pine planks exceed the common DI65 grading requirements and the standards set forth by OSHA and ANSI. The features of our scaffold planks include:

  • Solid sawn wood planks graded 2200F MSR 1.8E
  • Precision trimmed ends with clipped corners, painted and rodded
  • Available in S4S or rough surface finishes
  • 2×10 and 2×12 widths available
  • Paper wrapping and custom embossing also available
  • Made in the USA from home grown and harvested lumber

Our scaffolding planks are a popular choice for walkboard and scaffold applications that include scaffold manufacturing companies as well as masonry, plastering, and stucco contractors. Kennison maintains an active membership in SAIA (Scaffold Access & Industry Association) and MCAA (Mason Contractors Association of America).

2200F MSR 1.8E Solid Sawn Specifications

2200F MSR 1.8E Solid Sawn Scaffold Plank represents an evolutionary enhancement in the qualification of solid sawn scaffold plank versus traditional DI65 planks. Our mill’s proof testing process results in lower variability in flatwise bending strength in 2200F MSR 1.8E planks than visual grading alone found in traditional DI65 planks.

  • Meets OSHA/ANSI Standards
  • Available in S4S and Rough Surfaces
  • Available Widths: 2”x10” & 2”x12”
  • Rodded Ends
  • Clipped Corners
  • Custom Embossing
  • Precision End trimming, End Painting,
  • Paper Wrapping also available
  • Made in the U.S.A
